Your time is nobody's business
PrimeTime collects no personal data — not because a setting is off, but because there is nothing in the app that could. This page spells out exactly what stays on your Mac, what moves only when you say so, and the little the website sees.
No tracking
No account, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no ads — in any build of the app.
No servers of ours
Sync is optional and talks only to a server you run. We could not read your data if we wanted to.
The app
Everything you record in PrimeTime — timespans, labels, notes, colours, label sets, settings — is stored in a local database on your Mac. There is no account to create, and the app sends nothing to us or to anyone else. By default it makes no network connections at all.
The app only connects to the network when you explicitly configure it to:
- Sync with your own server. If you connect a self-hosted PrimeTime Server, your time-tracking data syncs to that server and no other. Signing in sends your password only to the server you entered, exchanges it for a revocable device token, and stores that token in the macOS Keychain — your password is never kept. Who can see the data then is entirely a property of the server you run.
- Import from Traggo. The one-time importer reads your history from a Traggo server you specify, straight into the local database.
- Update checks (direct download only). The version distributed from our website and Homebrew checks GitHub for new releases — a standard web request that, like any download, exposes your IP address to GitHub. It carries no identifier and no data from the app. The Mac App Store version contains no update checker at all; the App Store handles updates.
If you use the Mac App Store version, Apple may share crash reports and usage diagnostics with us in aggregate, controlled by the analytics preferences in macOS System Settings and governed by Apple's privacy policy. PrimeTime itself reports nothing.
Your data, your controls
You can export your complete, schema-versioned history as JSON at any time from the app.
Deleting your data is as simple as deleting the app and its container folder (~/Library/Containers/tools.primetime.PrimeTime). If you synced to a server you run, the copy there is likewise yours to keep or destroy
— we have no access to it and no copy of our own.
This website
primetime.tools uses a self-hosted instance of Umami for anonymous, aggregate page statistics — which pages are visited and roughly from where. It sets no cookies, stores no personal information, and the numbers never leave our server or reach any third party.
The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those font files from Google's servers — which, like any web request, exposes your IP address to Google. No other third-party resources are loaded.
Changes & contact
If the app or the site ever changes what it touches, this page changes first, with a new effective date. Questions about any of it: support@streetfortress.com.
